Hey there,
I am trying to figure out how to get back to you . .. I loving reading your prose, but have been guilty of not commenting . . .I just cannot compete with your witty bantor ..

The kids loved the snake . . how long exactly? . .have you been able to touch zebas, hippos or the monkeys? . . .why not? . . .what kind of pets to they keep in Africa? . . .we (kids and I) were on the news while buffalo were being released in Washington county .. big stuff . ..

Politics are funny . . I never really though of you as so optimistic // /but we really have no where to go . . ..you see we do not get much of that on the news here because someone named Brett Favre is on everyday trying to gain support to pressure the Packers to let him play again or release him because he has the 'itch to play again' . . . (I should have warned you to get a tissue before I let that info out) un believable . . .and I bet you go day to day and don't even think about that .. and you call yourself cheddarhead . ..

We have Perry back from Washington again until at least Nov . . maybe you will see him, maybe not . . .he might be gone before you return to the country ..

So, the juice has my mouth watering . .post a simple recipe and I will try to gather ingredients and make . .or the name of a favorite dish and I can look up ...

Yes, my world is very small these days .. but I love looking in your window . . . .enjoy and we will keep watching . .

Ashley, if I knew any killer gorillas I would send them your way.

Mish,

Good to hear from you! I'm glad you're enjoying the blog. I try to keep it updated. To answer your questions:

The snake was just a little fella and not the least bit dangerous. Apparently some people keep them in their homes here because they are rodent hunters and they serve sort of the same purpose as a cat. Which leads to the pet question....people do keep pets here, cats and dogs (ad sometimes snakes) but its not the same as at home. Pet's are there to do their job (protecting the home, catching rodents, etc.) and not so much as friends (Bjorn would not last..he's useless for anything but puppy snuggles). But, that's true many places in the world...treating house pets like family members is a pretty western custom, and one that has developed over time.

I have not had the chance to touch any zebras, hippos, or monkeys. I've come close on the Zebras and monkeys, but I wouldn't even try touching a hippo....those things are nasty dangerous animals...best observed from far away.

Politics are funny....but the more you study them the more I think that the more you realize how much they penetrate every area of our existence. It's hard to deny the importance of politics - and of history - when you are living someplace that reminds you every day of the role politics plays in dictating who has wealth and privilege and who does not. Anyway, I'm babbling...

I'm glad to hear that Perry is home and that all is well with you guys. Miss you much!

Grandma Fran:
